Earrings Are Heathen-Devil Stirrups

The Eleventh Commandment

The Eleventh Commandment

God speaking:

Ezekiel 16:11-12 (KJV)
11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.

E-54           She had earrings hanging plumb down like this, looked like the devil had been using her neck for a saddle and using them for stirrups. He’d rode her all over hell anyhow. That’s right.

Rebekah, Isaac’s wife:
Genesis 24:22 (KJV)
22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

Genesis 24:29-30 (KJV)
29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.
30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister’s hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.

E-15           The next come was a little boy. He was standing there. He was a–a Zulu. They had to… They cut their ears like this and make great, long things. They wear a lot of–of earrings, they do. Women wear a lot of paint.
So you women that likes to put on paint, you know where it come from? It’s a heathen worship. That’s exactly right. Keep it off of you. It’s not becoming to Christians.

Exodus 32:2 (KJV)
2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

Abimelech was a God-fearing man, who made an honest mistake:

E-55           Notice, what he done. As soon as they got down there to Gerar, and Abimelech looked out and said, “Well, of all I’ve waited for, there she is.” A little grandma, now. See?
Why, it couldn’t have been, brethren; that’s–that’s silly to think such a thing. See? But she was a beautiful, young woman. He took her over there, put earrings in her ears and fixed her all up.
That night… Now, he was a very good holiness brother. Now, he went to bed that night, and said his prayers, and stretched his big feet out like that, and thought, “Oh, tomorrow I marry this beautiful girl I’ve waited for all my life, and there she is. Her brother is setting out there in the tent, but he–he said that was his sister, and she said, ‘That’s my brother.’ So, oh, they’re fixing her all up, and tomorrow is the wedding.” My, my.

E-45           Here not long ago I was in a revival where Pentecostal women on the platform with a skirt on that look like they were molded in it, and with great big, long earrings hanging down like that, and with manicure, or ever what you call the stuff, all over their face, look like they’d been eating raw beefsteak and blood all over their fingers and things, and call themselves filled with the Holy Ghost? “By their fruits you shall know them.” That’s right.

Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

E-85           Today you got too much Hollywood evangelism, some little sissified guy with manicured hair, and stand up to a bunch of women with earrings hanging down like the devil’s stirrups, and enough paint on their face to paint a barn, and bobbed hair, and every… That used to be a sin among you Holiness people. What happened? You did run well. The Bible still says it’s a sin. That’s right.

Exodus 35:21-22 (KJV)
21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the Lord.

E-62           Run up-and-down the platforms like that, and dancing in the spirit, and speaking in tongues, and earrings and paint all over their faces, their hair all manicured and bobbed up like that, and then call themselves Christians…

Numbers 31:50 (KJV)
50 We have therefore brought an oblation for the Lord, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.

E-77           And just another little thing. I don’t see it in this building, but lot of you women that wears this here paint, and you know, and black stuff over your eyes and everything. You know where that come from? That trait is heathen. That’s exactly where it come from. They’ve had them great big bones in their ears for earrings, and take mud and paint their faces and all over like that. It’s a heathen trait. Then we permit it in our churches. “Sure, it’s all right.”

Judges 8:23-25 (KJV)
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.
24 And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)

80           I met a young lady the other night, down in Shreveport. Billy and I went out to a place to get a sandwich after the service was over. A beautiful young woman come in there, probably a young girl, of maybe a twenty or something like that, nice dressed. She set down. I noticed her kept looking across that way. I just kept on eating. A few minutes a lady come in. She said, “How do you do?” Spoke to her. And I know the lady was Sister Davis down there, and–her and another lady from Life Tabernacle, I knew them well; she come over and spoke to me, went on. Then the young lady setting across, she said, “Brother Branham, that was a nice message tonight.”
I said, “How do you do, sister?” I said, “Thank you, very much.” And I said, “Are you a member of the Life Tabernacle?”
She said, “I am.” She said, “You know, Brother Branham, I could’ve sung in the choir, but they make a restriction down there.” She said, “I had, oh, so many years of vocal training, and everything.” Said, “I sing solos and I sing certain things.” Said, “But, I–I couldn’t sing, because they have–they have a restriction that no woman wearing paint can sing–sing in the choir.”
I said, “Well, praise God for Life Tabernacle.”
She said, “Well, I tell you, Brother Branham,” she said, “I’m a Christian.”
I said, “Then, sister, go home and wash your face or whatever you do.” I said, “Do you mean to tell me that you’d let such a little thing as wearing a little of that old stuff on your face…”
85           And I can prove to you that that come from the devil. I can prove to you that nothing in the… The originate of it was heathens. And as long as you wear it, it’s a mark of a heathen. Now, I just come back from Africa, and I’ve been in the Hottentot jungles and found out just exactly where earrings, where all that stuff come, and all this, a lot of jewelry wrapped your necks and ears and everything, where that comes from. It’s the heathens. And the Bible don’t want a Christian to be a heathen. And you don’t want… I don’t say that you are a heathen because you do it, but you’re making yourself look like one. It’s because your pastor didn’t tell you the truth. The Bible said so.

E-52           Not a bunch of organizations going together and having a little a–frenzy of a meeting or something another, and stand up and tell a few jokes and sing a few hymns, and some woman stand there with earrings hanging down her ears, like that, and a big bunch of paint on top of her face. And then, go out there and call herself a Christian. She ain’t even fit to be on the platform, if you want to know the truth.
Women, let me say to you as a–as your brother. Let me say this to you, it’s the truth. That’s… And you know that’s the truth. There was only one woman in the Bible that ever painted her face to meet a man. You don’t paint your face to meet God. You know better than that.

E-30           That afternoon, a holiness church, he wanted to introduce me to his wife. I tell you; I’m not making fun of anybody, but that poor mortal had a dress on that was so tight; and great big long earrings, and a whole lot of paint; I said, “Is she a saint?”
He said, “Yes, sir.”
I said, “She looks like a haint to me.” I said, “That, brother, is a long way’s from being…” I don’t say that for a joke. I mean, that’s the truth. It’s right.

E-61           There Abimelech, I guess, a good brother, said his prayers, washed hisself, and stretched his big feet out to have a nice–a nice sleep, folded his hands and said, “Tomorrow I’ll marry this beautiful Hebrew woman.” Took her into the house, and–and put on all kinds of fancy clothes, and earrings, and fixed her all up you know.

E-27           They’ve lost the Spirit in the meeting. The piano can play, the drums can beat, and women with their clothes tight enough–like skinned over a wiener, running up-and-down on the floor like that, jumping up-and-down. Let the music stop and they stop too. Earrings, and all kinds of fancy things of the world. Looks like some kind of magician, instead of a–instead of a saint.

E-81           Now, here he was, setting out there as a little sneaking coward. Setting out… God forgive me for speaking of His prophet like that, but I’m trying to make a point here. Now, we watch, old Abimelech went over there, and I imagine that night after he took his bath, and put on his pajamas, and said his prayers, and stuck his toes out like that, “Oh, I finally found the one I wanted.” Laying on the bed, said, “Tomorrow I’ll marry this pretty Hebrew woman.” They had her all decorated up with earrings and all these kind of things, you know. “Oh, how beautiful she looks, tomorrow I’ll marry her.”

185             No, you don’t do things like that, and then have the Holy Ghost. Went to a minister’s wife one time, setting up there with a dress on, it was horrible-looking.
You say, “You ain’t got no rights.”
186    I have got a right. That’s the Word. Preach It all. You bypass those things, a lot of sissified preachers, because they haven’t got the audac-… Maybe you haven’t even been called to preach, in the first place. Yeah. But a true servant of God will stay right with that Word. Right.
187    Minister’s wife setting there, all squeezed up in a dress, with earrings hanging on, and make-up on, and short bobbed hair. When, God condemns the whole thing as filth. And then saying you got the Holy Ghost?

  1. We have examples for example in Deuteronomy 13 of a true prophet and a false prophet read it. Then in that same passages it says God has come to prove us and to test us read it it’s there. And false Christ will show signs and wonders if possible to deceive the very elect read it where am I going with this I believe the Seventh-Day Sabbath is one of the signs that is the earmark of the children of God that keep the commandments. William had a bad experience with a KKK and then had Church in a masonic temple not good then the pyramid that appeared in the clouds and even talked about it and boasted not good either. But I have and we should have empathy for what William because these signs and these experiences came to him he didn’t seek that it came to him as a little boy thus I’m very empathetic with him thus it is read the scriptures and keep the scriptures keep the way keep it clean I’d rather have lots of scriptures and a life that’s been humbled and given over to the way than having some Pentecostal and some healings and some of that etc
