what is your attitude towards the word of God ?

hebrews-4-12

1 Samuel 3: 18
“So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the LORD; let him do what is good in his eyes.”

The bible says the word of God is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. When God speaks, His word will never return to Him void without accomplishing what He had instructed it to do.

2 Timothy 3: 16
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

The bible in above verse says all scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise any wrongdoing in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Our bible passage reveals how the word of the Lord came to Eli as a correction. God sent a prophet to him regarding the waywardness of his children but instead of calling them to order,

Eli instead did nothing. Again, after the young Samuel had narrated all that the Lord had revealed to him concerning his family, the response of Eli in our quoted scripture verse reveals that he had a lackadaisical attitude towards the word of God.

1 Samuel 2: 30-31
“Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares:

‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed. Behold, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father’s house, so that there will not be an old man in your house.”

Many believers today are no better than Eli. They refuse to change even when the word of the Lord has shown them their errors. The punishment that came upon Eli and his entire lineage is enough to learn from and a wise Christian would do well never to provoke God’s anger.

I pray as you read, study, memorise and meditate on the word of God, you will be a doer and not just a hearer alone in Jesus mighty name..Amen
