Perfect Strength By Perfect Weakness
There never was an altar call made in all the Bible. There’s no such thing in the Scripture. Nowhere down through the ages was it made till the Methodist age, about two hundred years ago, see.
Altar calls are when people come up and try to persuade and pull people, “Come on, John. You know, they…Your mother died, praying for you. Come on, John.” That’s not conviction, friends. No. Them—them kind, I…very seldom you ever hear one that ever goes very far. And, in that, you get everything. That’s the reason the church is all muddled up the way it is today, is because of such things.
Conviction, you don’t have to say a thing, brother, God is there and do the work. “While Peter spake these words the Holy Ghost fell on them that heard the Word.” See? See? See? There’s no altar call, see, no such a thing.
ETERNAL and BLESSED GOD,
WE ARE THANKFUL TO THEE
for WHAT OUR EYES have SEEN and OUR EARS have HEARD.
And WE COULD JOIN IN WITH THAT POET WHO WROTE THE SONG TO THAT.
And WE ARE SO GLAD
TO KNOW
that THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION
is NOT
A BOOK OF RULES,
but IT IS
AN EXPERIENCE OF
A LIVING, EVER-PRESENT GOD.
We LEAVE THESE CHILDREN IN YOUR HANDS,
LORD.
And WE PRAY that THEY WILL GROW IN GRACE,
and THEIR CHURCHES from which they are from,
WILL BE BLESSED, and may there BE REVIVAL IN THE LAND.
And THOSE WHO have SO GALLANTLY STOOD and ACCEPTED THEE
as THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOUR,
WE WOULD ASK
that YOU WOULD GRANT, LORD,
YOUR RICHEST BLESSINGS
UPON THEM.
